Sometimes I wish it would rain.
Sometimes I wish it would pour
But most times
I just wish I could learn to soar
Learning to soar
I’ve spent most of my life living for others, guided by another and shown what “is best” for me. One morning, I decided I’d reached the end of my rope with the life I was leading. That was the morning I became Reign again.
~Reign Amethyst Jeffries
“I was looking for my clothes so I could make my exit. You didn’t leave that information in your note.”
His smile faltered when he looked at what was left of my dress that I’d been wearing the night before. The look he was sporting had me giggling because he looked like a little kid that figured out he shouldn’t roll his toy car in the street with other cars. Very specific example there, might want to get out a bit more, Reign.
“What was that last bit there? What specific example?”
His look and words had me realizing that I hadn’t just thought that, I’d actually spoken that aloud.
“Ha. Yeah, that was in reference to something that I was thinking, which I believed I’d said only in my head. Okay. We’re going to move passed that one. I need to get something from you.”
At his quirked eyebrow and questioning glance, I quickly corrected my statement.
“I mean, I need some clothes or pants. I can’t leave here with just this shirt.”
He gave me an appreciative once over and muttered something to himself. Was he actually attracted to me or just the fact that there was a half-naked woman in front of him? Hold on, or was he recalling something we did last night?
“Did we … did you and I have sex last night?”
My face must’ve reflected the sheer terror that I felt at the possibility that I did something that stupid. I’m a mother. I cannot have idiotic moments like that. The man is “fuck me until I don’t know my own name” hot, but I don’t have time for getting caught up in a moment.
“Relax, Reign. We didn’t do anything.”
My face fell. I was scrutinizing his features as I relaxed about the fact that we hadn’t done anything, but I needed to be sure.
“You’re sure? Nothing, absolutely nothing, happened between the two of us?”
His chest moved up and down as he released a chuckle then an exasperated sigh. His hands moved to his pockets as he responded.
“Reign, I assure you, nothing happened between us last night.”
The way he adamantly spoke told me that he was telling the truth. Now, I felt like a fool because I wanted to know why nothing happened. We were obviously attracted to one another. I mean I was checking him out and he was doing the same. Chewing the inside of my jaw, I thought about last night and tried to remember the details. I really wanted to know why we hadn’t done anything. Since we hadn’t, how in the hell did I end up in his shirt?
“Reign, I can see the cogs of that brain of yours working. There are several reasons why we didn’t do anything. For one, I prefer conscious women when engaging in sexual activity. Call me old fashioned that way. Two, I don’t make it a habit to bring women to this place. It is where I lay my head when I have to work. I left the party last night with you and brought you here. On my way here, I called a doctor friend of mine and she came to check you out. She’s the one that changed your clothes from the ones you got sick all over. FYI, you got mine as well. She helped you clean up and put you in that shirt. Third, she could barely get you out of the clothes you were in. You fought Marlena the entire time. Call me crazy, but I don’t fight women to bed them. I prefer a willing participant.” He smiled then shook his head before adding, “In the spirit of full disclosure, I rifled through your bag to find your phone so I would have your number to call the famous woman who passed out on me last night.”

Title: Mama Katerina
Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Paranormal
Series: The Craft Society of Divination
Release Date: February 19, 2016
Cover: Redbird Designs
Book IAt a very young age, Katerina Deshion became the Chosen One–leader of the Society of Divination and their covens. With this title came great responsibility and sacrifice. If only foreshadowing were part of her innate powers. Temptation comes knocking on her door in the form of Xavian. A true-life Angel. A moment of weakness changes Katerina’s life forever. Will Katerina’s power be enough to save their son’s life or will Xavian be successful in his never-ending quest?
“Mother,” Evian stated curtly, trying to regain some semblance of control of his erratic heart rate. “Son,” she responded just as curtly. She’s going to dish it as well as he gave it, he thought to himself. “I just left Auntie Vivi’s, and I can’t say that I’m all too pleased with what she told me,” Evian stated, trying not to allow his mind to drift too far away from his purpose. He didn’t want to dwell on the pain of what his aunt had revealed. “I can’t say that I am all that pleased that your auntie chose to share what was not hers to share,” his mother stated in response. “How is it that you have a belief that this was not hers to share? How is it that you actually believe that I didn’t have a right to know . . . to understand? Are you really that cold and unfeeling?” Evian asked, knowing that the fire was building within. A fire that was causing his mind to dwell on the heartache her coldness made him feel. He tried to squelch the fire within and returned his focus to his true reason for being there. She spoke before he could continue. “I have taken certain . . . liberties in my life . . . and with your life. Such things I don’t feel obligated to explain because every choice that I made was for the betterment of our family,” she stated with an edge to her voice as she pointed between the two of them. She then leveled him with the cut of her eyes. “You think that your Auntie is telling you tidbits about yourself and our family because she wants you to better know yourself?” she asked, but it seemed to be more of a statement since she really asked as if she knew he had no rational response. The question was there, but it was spoken with such distaste and annoyance that Evian couldn’t possibly know if he should attempt to actually answer or not. He warred with himself. If he came up with a response, would it be enough to have his mother thrown off by it? Would it be enough to warrant his frustration or wipe the all-knowing look off of her face? His internal battle continued. After a couple moments of silence, she lifted her eyebrows and shrugged her shoulders. This was always a signifier that she was waiting with not-so-bated breath for his reply, but was also preparing to move on to another subject or dismiss him. Evian decided for the fight versus flight approach. “She has been the one that picked up the broken pieces of me when you were too busy to do it,” he seethed. He felt the flames of fury being fanned and with that feeling came a more callous attitude. Evian began not to care that Katerina was his mother or that they were two sides of the same coin. “Just how do you think she came to be the person who was there to put those ‘pieces’ together? Did you ever see her going off to work? Did you ever see her taking care of the menial day-to-day tasks like grocery shopping? Paying the bills? Shopping for your clothing? Schoolbooks? Did you ever see her personally take you to any appointment? Or game for that matter? Was she ever on the sidelines cheering you on? Did she ever have the conversations that made you the man that you have become?” she sat, finally, as if she were exhausted from having a conversation that she’d had countless times before. Could it be possible that she may have thought on this conversation happening between the two of them? No. That wasn’t possible. His mother was just that in name only. “The question or questions should be did I see you doing any of those things,” Evian threw the words at his mother with all of the resentment and dejection that he felt inside.

Title: An Author's Tale
Author: Ellie Keys Publisher: Booktrope Publication
Date: January 2016
OH! I remembered then. I was on my way to my room. In my inebriated state, I'd mixed up the numbers. I had ended up at his door trying desperately to get my key to work. I recalled hearing some kind of grumbling from the other side of the door, but hadn't really been coherent enough to put two and two together.

As an author, I enjoy making my own way in life--answering to no one, but myself. I do enjoy meeting fans and attending book events. I was so excited to be invited to sign in New York City with several of my fellow authors. My life was going so well until I made one mistake. His name was Daniel White. Daniel is the cover model extraordinaire. Meeting Daniel changed my whole life. I’m not sure quite what to make of it. He’s stubborn, bossy, and won’t leave me to my own space.
What should I do with him?
If I was writing my own story, I’d have written my character a better ending. This has to get better . . . doesn’t it?
I'd fallen through the door when he snatched it open. I was on the floor for a few moments giggling and I heard him curse. It had sounded like he’d said something about eager fans or desperate women. Either way, I'd laughed and told him that he was an asshole for jumping to conclusions because I wasn't what he thought I was. I was just too drunk to realize that I was trying to get into the wrong room.
I’d tried to lift myself up and almost fell. I'd tugged on something, but didn't know what. I didn't know until I was on my knees in the next moment facing his slightly erect rod, which was beautiful and staring me in my face. The one-eyed monster had my full attention.
"Okay, beautiful, you got to see it. Now let go of my pants," I’d heard him say.
My eyes never budged. I was fixated. Before I realized it, I had the head of him in between my lips. Once I had it, I wasn't letting go. I didn't until he'd grabbed my bun and tugged. He lifted all of my size- fourteen, five-foot-four, one-hundred-seventy-plus ass up off the floor and hand me spread eagle in the air perched just above his completely erect pelvis a moment later.
"You want this?" was his question.
I was so flabbergasted and turned on by how easily he lifted me that my response was automatic, "Yes. God, yes!"
He quickly slid the only thing hindering his entry to the side and tested my willingness with his fingers. His probing had my head falling back. My panties had to have been soaked through because I had been more than ready. He was deep within me after just a few slight strokes. I lost count over the course of the night just how many times I fell into the lap of ecstasy. I just recalled being in a constant state of bliss. I remembered feeling exhausted and drifting off to sleep with the cheesiest grin. His hand in my dampened honey blonde tresses helped lull me to sleep.
I know I woke up in the middle of the night and felt really hot. I'd rocked back and felt him behind me. I was in that in-between state where you can't tell dream from reality. So, I just went with it. I woke him enough to have my wicked way with him.
"Oh my ... I can't believe I did this," I groaned into the pillow.
"Yeah, you did and quite well I might add. I'll admit that I've never been with a ... a, um, African American girl and definitely not a plus size one but damn ... " he said as he moved around behind me.
I inwardly groaned again then was pissed and irritated with myself. I was most definitely the dumbest woman to walk the face of the earth. Ever so slowly, I sat up and began to stand my naked body on my shaky legs.
"Whoa there, ba ... ," he began, but I cut him off.
"Do not finish that statement. I'm not your baby. As a matter of fact, if I remember correctly, when I fell into your room last night or this morning, whenever, you thought I was some 'desperate fan'. I wasn't then and I'm not now. I'm going to get my bearings and my damn clothes so I can leave. I need to get ready for the event today. Ugh, my head ... and my stomach. I'm going to use your bathroom first," I informed him as I moved very slowly toward my gown, which was in the direct path of the bathroom. Didn't I have on pants before? Oh yeah, I had them on under the gown.
"Wait. Did I say something wrong?"
I just ignored him and concentrated on getting to my garment then to the bathroom. I'd just made it to the gown when I heard the bed move.

The Reason I Show My Support
I'm so stoked to be part of this hop giveaway. Every year, I look for something to do to help bring awareness to this month. I'm all about multitasking. I decided that I'd combine my giveaway with promotion for an upcoming anthology that I am privileged to be affiliated with as well as awareness for October being Breast Cancer Awareness month.
A woman that will forever be embedded in my memory, not because she is gone from this world, but because of the life that she's lived. She was diagnosed with cancer during a time when she was supposed to be celebrating one of the greatest gifts a woman can have. After years of trying to get pregnant, she was able to finally able to have a baby. Concerned about the issues she was having with breast feeding, she went to the doctor. The outcome was learning that she had cancer. The first year of her newborn son's life was spent being too weak to hold him. She couldn't breastfeed as she wanted to. Imagine the pain she felt. It's not something that I would wish on anyone. The family rallied around her, going as far as shaving their heads, wearing the wigs or scarves when she did and keeping her encouraged. I continue to share and support causes because of Jen. She reminds me to keep going in the face of adversity. I will continue to share her story as I watch her family from afar via Facebook.
You'll find a giveaway, the information for another cause that I am associated with and helpful information about the true reason for this month. Thanks for stopping by the blog. I hope it is helpful and inspiring.
